The Destructors

The Destructors is a short story that was wrote by Graham Greene in the 50's. It's characterized by its black humour which is what media and readers have appreciated from all over the world.

T, who is a relatively new member of a common Wormsley gang of boys, has found a way to enter Old Misery's house (A man whose house is the only one that survived WW2) and to destroy it very meticulously and very well organized. He will need the help of Blackie, the current gang leader, and from all the gang so his "masterpiece" can be done, no matter what.

The gang members can't understand why is T. so determined and focused on doing something so evil and emblematic, their mischievousness isn't as dangerous as T. clearly but they stick to the plan always. Also once the gang see's that the plan might be in danger they take decisive but problematic actions so the consequences are really uncertain.

How Graham Greene wrote the story is awesome because even if you can't understand the black humour or you just don't like it, you steel are hooked to the story because of all the drama and suspense that is in it. Graham Greene allows a person that is problematic, cold and bold to take decisions in the story that will involve and affect every character, this by it's great use of language and descriptions, therefore you are hooked to the story even more.

My opinion about The Destructors is that even though I personally didn't like the black humour it's a very entertaining story that will get your grip for some time. Also that the way Graham Greene describes the stuff going on with the gang and Old Misery is very good because it not just helps you understand the story it makes you imagine the characters and the situations perfectly. I would really recommend this story to anyone over 15 years old but also under 30 or 35.

Funny Joke - "Memory Class"

An elderly couple had been experiencing declining memories, so they decided to take a power memory class where one is taught to remember things by association. A few days after the class, the old man was outside talking with his neighbor about how much the class helped him. "What was the name of the Instructor?" asked the neighbor. "Oh, ummmm, let's see," the old man pondered. "You know that flower, you know, the one that smells really nice but has those prickly thorns, what's that flower's name?" "A rose?" asked the neighbor. "Yes, that's it," replied the old man. He then turned toward his house and shouted, "Hey, Rose, what's the name of the Instructor we took the memory class from?"

This joke is funny because you're expecting the old man to associate the flower to the name of the instructor but he associates it with the flower to remember the name of his wife, something you couldn't possibly forget.

The meaning of my names...

Santiago.- "Saint James", derived from Spanish santo "saint" combined with Iago, an old Spanish form of JAMES, the patron saint of Spain. Cities in Chile and Spain bear this name.

Benito.- Spanish form of BENEDICT. This name was borne by Mexican president Benito Juárez, and also by Benito Mussolini (who was named after Juárez), the fascist dictator of Italy during World War II.

The Oscars

The Oscars are show that prizes the "best movies" of that year or the year before. I really hate them because its just another fashion parade. The only thing that people cares about is the dresses that Jennifer Aniston wore or the new hairstyle of Scarlett Johanson, and they don't care about the movies! Also what are the awards based on? The opinion of someone that nobody knows? Thats bs really. Normal people like you and I should choose the winners because I don't really care about somebody's opinion and not mine, we should be considered! That's why I hate the Oscars.

Journey's End/World War 1

Journey's End is a play written by R.C. Sherriff and it's set on World War one. The message that the author tries to send is that not always your hero or rolemodel is the best person in all aspects and doesn's always make the right decisions throughout life.

The whole story is performed on a dugout in the trenches of the british army infantry company, and in real life people did lived in trenches and they turned to go into no mans land to attack the enemy and try to conquer other trenches and so on. Trenches were a really stupid thing because to conquer the enemy trench you had to pass through no mans land and you were totally exposed to the enemies machine guns and rifles so you were basically sent to your own death.

World War 1 (1914 - 1918) was caused because basically a serbian guy killed Franz Ferdinand and then Hungary declared war to Serbia and then Russia united with Serbia to fight and Germany united with Hungary. Later, the U.K. and France made an alliance with Russia and Serbia. Then the U.S. united with Russia and friends and they won the war.

The things that alter and affect the situation and the environment is the entrance and exit of different characters with different events that have happened to them.

Emos

Ill go straight to the point. I think emos are people who have serious mental problems because I think that when you harm yourself you're mentally bad. Also I don't think that people should be angry with them or want to eliminate them because they had done nothing wrong, they are just misunderstood people that want to become part of a group so then they can be accepted by society. I think that the people that are angry with them are the ones with mental isssues and by saying that I dont mean that emos are completly mental healthy. Now moving on into the clothes and hairstyles that emos have adopted, I believe that they try to be different but I just find it really silly.
